What is UV-C Germicidal or UVC LED Sterilizer Lamp?

April 23, 2020

Ultraviolet technology is a non-chemical methods to disinfection. Ultraviolet light is part of light spectrum which is divided into  three ranges of wavelength: Only UV-C is Germicidal and can destroy germs.

  • UV-A - 315 nm to 400 nm
  • UV-B - 280 nm to 315 nm
  • UV-C - 100 nm to 280 nm

How UVC Works in Destroying Germs?

UVC light deactivates the DNA of the germs which include bacteria, virus and other pathogens and thus destroys their ability to multiply. UVC light causes damage to the nucleic acid of the microorganisms and prevent the cells for replication. When the organism tries to replicate, it dies.

Where UVC has been used?

UVC is not a new technology. UVC is used in disinfection and purification of water, air or surfaces. It destroys the molecular structure in the cells of microorganisms (pathogens such as bacteria, viruses etc.) thereby sterilizing water, air and the surface of objects.
